Samson

“You will conceive and give birth to a son. No razor may be used n his head, because the boy is to be a Nazarite, set apart to God from birth, and he will begin the deliverance of Israel from the hands of the Philistines” Judges 13:5

Do you know anyone who started out really well, but his decisions in life caused him a great downfall? It is sad to be remembered for what one might have been and Samson was one of those people. He had credentials that were not ordinary. He delivered the nation of Israel from a great opponent, the Philistine army, and was known for his remarkable strength. He  also fulfilled the plans that the Lord had for him as a judge. But in the midst of his greatness, the way he lived his life showed how he abused the gifts that God gave him and how he violated God’s laws on many occasions.

Towards the end of his life, Samson declared that God was the source of his strength as he prayed, “O Sovereign Lord, remember me. O God, please strengthen me just once more, and let me with one blow get revenge on the Philistines for my two eyes.”  God honored his request and God showed his love for him despite his failures. God used him one final time and by Samson’s strength, he was able to kill more men than he did while he lived (Judges 16:30)

Samson’s life reminds us to be mindful of the choices we make and how we live our lives. Though it is never too late to start all over again and that “all things work together for good” (Romans 8:28), finishing strong is a testimony to others of our faith, obedience, and loyalty to the Lord.

Application:

Is there anything in your life that God is convicting you to stop doing now as it is getting in the way of His plans for you? Confess and ask the Lord for guidance. Ask for godly counsel and connect with Him daily.

"Outfit Repeater!!!"

I seriously don't mind repeating outfits. I'm not one who buys  stuff and then uses them once in a year. I'm not from the Upper East Side - thanks.
Soo, as I was going through some sites, I stumbled upon Kendi Everyday and was instantly drawn to her 30 for 30 idea (left). Why? Because I realized that I have a lot (a lot means, I have at least 4 pairs of jeans, at least 10 tops, and at least 3 pairs of shoes - that's a lot compared to people who don't have any!) and I don't get to really maximize my closet without having to sigh in front of it and say, "Gosh... I don't have anything to wear! Time to shop!" Acck. I'm so doing this thing... It's also a way for me to save money and be a good steward of what I have.

Let's do this!
Oh wait, the only problem is... I wear uniforms to work! Therefore, I won't be able to blog about my outfits daily. I'll try. But as the rule say, "It doesn't matter.."

Feeling Nerdy?

Sister has been telling me that she wants one of them nerdy Ray-Ban glasses... Haha...
How does it look on us?
Personally, I'm not too risky to actually wear one.

*Couldn't resist making that ghetto pouty face*

Seedy Fruit

I love me some Dragon Fruit. My sister hates these things just by the looks of it. She gives me this totally disgusted look every time I enjoy these babies.
They're so yammmmyyy!

Ms. Swift

It's almost a week now and Taylor Swift songs are still playing in my head. "Stop it already!!!" Anyhoo, here are some pictures I took. The place was packed with a LOT - I tell you, A LOT - of screaming girls. And never in my life have I experienced feeling paranoid of what may happen in such a ginormous crowd!

Shout out to my uncle, Renen De Guia, of Ovation Productions!!! Thank you mucho!

ID Pic

Don't you just love ID pictures???
*Picture taken 2 years ago*

Picture of the Day

Taken in Boracay... Baby Franco playing with the white stones...

Eye of the Tiger!

Awkward:
1.  Yesterday, I found a hole at the back of my pants where the stitches are between my buttocks (sounds more decent)! Seriously, for the past two weeks, there has been an incident with my behind and my pants. Glue stains, a hole, what's next for next week!?
2. Wedgies... Finding a way out of it in public!
3. Dancing to Eye of the Tiger for our school's Moving Up Day Program - I feel so cool right now.

Awesome:
1. AND... Because of my dancing shoes, I finally came up with CHOREOGRAPHY for the song (my students, just the boys, are going to pretend to be Manny Pacquiao)!
2. Taking NAPS!!! Ahhh, the best! Energizes you like an energizer bunny!
3. Brewed coffee in the morning! Ahhhh, my condo smells like Starby (Starbux)!
4. Taylor Swift concert this Saturday!

Sunday Happyness

Sister and I went on a "date" after church then watched Burlesque. I liked the movie.

We ate at a Japanese Restaurant, Rai Rai Ken, but as you can see, our food does not look so Japanese. Lols. We didn't want to spend money on TEENY TINY makis, cause this place isn't authentic... Just simple and cheap (cheap, I mean affordable). For dessert, we had Peek-A-Pom at MONDO juice. IT'S MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE!!! I CAN LIVE IN THAT PLACE!!!
yum.

It's About That Timmmme!!!

Awkward:
1. Walking home from work with glue stains on my ass (that I mean, at the back of my pants).
2. My black foot socks peeping out from my flats - makes me look like a grandma.
3. Being a third wheel - who says it's not an awkward thing!?
4. Telling my boss my desire to focus on my masters and complete it on time, and therefore praying about quitting work for a year.
5. Observing a teenager looking straight at herself in the mirror of our condo lobby as she strutted like some model. With large sun glasses and her hair all disheveled, I felt embarrassed for her as people stared at this mysterious person.

Awesome!:
1. Free Shakeys meal from birthday party!!! HAHA
2. Taylor Swift concert! One more week to go!!!
3. Yummy salad for dinner!
4. Bonding with my nephew! He brightens up my day!
5. Seeing my cousin as the main ASIAN character on this video! Makes me proud! (Had to write Asian there! Hahaha.)

Smeyez, Not Cross-eyed!

My sister and I love watching America’s Next Top Model. (Tyra is a really awesome model, but her talk show, hmmm, I’ll pass.) But yeah, ANTM is exciting to watch and we copy off the poses that the models do. It’s hysterical to even attempt being fierce! Our stiff bodies can only do so much exhibitions! WAH! Anyway, we were particularly blown away by the bone structure of this wolf-eyed Raina Hein of cycle 14. She looks fabulous! My sister tried to copy her and lemme tell you, she did NOT do justice to Raina's winner pose. I was like, “Uhhh, smeyes, not cross-eyed!” We laughed our tushies off.

Anyway, here are some pictures taken from last week’s church service with our President, President Noynoy Aquino, also known as “P.Noy” (which really cool since the nation has high hopes in his leadership and we the FILIPINOS are called PINOYS in short)! The church, CCF (Christ’s Commission Fellowship) together with K4 Philippines, had the privilege to invite the President to attend service and be prayed for.

So here I am... getting a little ADHD as we waited for the service to start. I fiddled around with my friend’s Lumix (thanks Jopet!!!).

Defeaning Silence

Over the weekend, I was in Tagaytay with my family. It was nice and cool up in there and it felt like it was SPRING TIME! But can I just say, I never felt so bored in my life...
When I arrived around 7pm, we ate... Watched Hi5 (thanks to my nephew) and ate... Talked... And... Slept. Lols. I wasn't able to do anything during the afternoon cause of classes (not for college mah friends, grad school! Lols! Surprised!?) Sleeping was a struggle though. It took me a while to fall asleep because it was way too QUIET. My dad calls it, the "DEAFENING SILENCE!" His own meaning? It's QUIET, but it HURTS! LOLS! Strange!!! I had to play my iTouch to put me to sleep!
Ohwell. But I liked being with my family and my cutie nephew, Franco. It was a good time to get away.

This is what happens when I don't get a decent blow-dry!
CRAZY HAIR!

So David blessed the LORD in the sight of all the assembly; and David said, "Blessed are You, O LORD God of Israel our father, forever and ever.
Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Yours is the dominion, O LORD, and You exalt Yourself as head over all.
Both riches and honor come from You, and You rule over all, and in Your hand is power and might; and it lies in Your hand to make great and to strengthen everyone.
Now therefore, our God, we thank You, and praise Your glorious name.
But who am I and who are my people that we should be able to offer as generously as this? For all things come from You, and from Your hand we have given You.

Friday is PRIZE DAY!!! (Well, Yesterday!)

Yesterday was PRIZE DAY and the kids just love hearing the prize box every FRIDAY! They don't get tired of it! CRAZYYYY!!! It's amazing how they go nuts over the same prizes every Friday!!

So I asked myself, "How about me!? Do I deserve a prize today?"

 OH, HECK YES I DO! ! !

NUMBER ONE! I completed two homeworks due the next day, which is today. AHHH! The smell of victory!
2. I suggested something to my boss and didn't know it was the same idea that the co-directress suggested to her before. Yahoo fo' me!!! The idea was sold!
3. Took cute pictures of my students - no faces of course. Just hands!!! Cute hands!
4. A family observed our class and sat in for a few minutes. Since, I lead circle time, oh holy shmoley, it was show time! FORGET BREATHING or if I look harassed, I gotta put on a show, man! I mean, I think I do a pretty good job in leading the class (yeah, I have to give me some props for that. I believe I improved greatly) but since they are visitors, first impressions LAST! SOOOO! TADAAA! They are sending their child next school year.

WOOOP WOOOP! Go ginga, go ginga!!!

I drew that heart on my student's hand. I call it, "love balloon!"

Today is Thursday! ---Was?

By the time I finish writing this post, it will officially be February 4, Friday. Internet is slow and my patience? Still there, thankfully.

Anyhoo, I have been obsessed with Ms. Sydney, and her awesome pictures, fashion sense, and AWKWARD-AWESOME THURSDAY! It's the only blog I check on a daily basis (well, sorta)... and it makes my heart happy! Hence, I shall be posting my first list of awkwardness and awesomeness!

AWKWARD:
1. Today, I finally met the new nanny of my cute nephew, Franco! Hmmm, it was awkward when she drank from the same glass I drank when I intended to leave it in the restaurant. Funny, and awkward.
2.  Today is Chinese New Year and my boss read a story to my students... I had a little blooper moment as I said something completely WRONG about the story and I was so embarrassed! Teacher (pointing to me) was obviously NOT paying attention!
3. We had parent-teacher meetings and a parent arrived during lunch break! I practically SWALLOWED my food without chewing! It was definitely awkward to greet the parents with food still stuck in my mouth!
4. It feels weird holding parent teacher meetings when here I am, a 26 year old, talking to a parent about their cognitive and emotional development. It feels strange. . .
5. I have been bringing the same lunch for the past 4 days. .  . I was proud to announce it.
6. I have been walking like a duck since yesterday cause my inner thighs are SORE from the workout I had last Monday

Freakin AWESOME:
1. I got hugs gallore from my students!
2. Work has been going smoothly this week and thank God I am not feeling tired or inept with what needs to be done in class!
3. I saw my nephew and bonded with him!!!
4. I got a cookie!!! I loveeee cookies!
5. After probably 30 minutes, internet access is speeding up! WOOOP! WOPPP!

Lately, I've been posting pictures taken in NYC. Aside from the fact that I haven't uploaded the pics from my camera, I want to share how awesome this city is. I just like pretending to be artistic and what not.
Shoot, I'm no photographer, but with these shots, I feel like a pro!

It's February!!!!

It's the time of the year once again when people get all cheesy, romantic, and sappy for the upcoming commercialized holiday.
Am I a hater?
Probably!
Hahaha.
It's been a week since I last updated. Aww, men! I'm pleased, however, to know that I have new visitors from other countries! (HELLO MEXICO!- my latest visitor)
It's been a great week so far. Today I hosted a birthday party at work (I'm a preschool teacher, fyi) cause it was my student's birthday. Today he turned 4! The class played musical chairs and it was so exciting to see the kids pleasantly competitive.

This is how I feel at the moment. HAPPY! No particular reason. ---UUURG!!! I need to upload my recent photos. These were taken in New York 2010
